We thought we had a perfect plan. Retirement was coming and the decision was made to sell my South Orange house in summer of 2020 and to join my husband in Switzerland to enjoy retirement together without regular tiring overseas flights. We posted the request for suggestions for a real estate agent on our Nextdoor neighborhood group. We almost immediately got a response from Amy Paternite, who happened to be our close neighbor. Thats how the journey began… It was February 2019. Amy had a perfect knowledge of the market and knew exactly what buyers are looking for in Newstead. She quickly come up with a list of minor repair and little remodeling tasks, which would make the house sale easier and more profitable. The year 2020 came, all repairs were completed, Amy started to work on the market strategy for our house sale … and here we were all hit by COVID. It was March 2020. Amy and I decided to go ahead with the sale. Amy arranged for an astonishing staging of the house. Our house was listed and … the next day all NJ went to lockdown. No open houses, no private showings were possible. I was shocked, to say the least. Amy however quickly refocused and found an alternative solution: she shot an amazing video of the walk through the house. The movie was so beautiful that I sent it to all my family and friends. It got a lot of web viewing during lockdown and the very first weekend private viewings were allowed, we performed several showings and received multiple offers, all above our asking price, a couple of days after. The transaction was smooth and well guided by Amy and her team. Buyers and I were happy with the deal. Then the movers came, closing, champagne, overseas flight and here I am in Switzerland, enjoying time with my husband.
